Gurgaon: A fire destroyed an electronic scrap warehouse in Rathiwas village, Manesar. Fire officials received a call at 7.25pm, and 14 fire tenders were deployed.The fire could not be contained even after 20 hours as electronic items, including refrigerators, ACs, and compressors, began to explode."It was a scrap warehouse of old vehicles, refrigerators, ACs, and electronic goods in Rathiwas. Thousands of vehicle compressors, oil extracted from vehicles, diesel, petrol, rubber, fibre, plastic, and other flammable materials were kept here, due to which the fire spread rapidly," an officer added.He added that two security guards were present in the warehouse who informed the fire department. "As soon as the fire extinguishing work started, the roof collapsed. More than a dozen vehicles were deployed here for fire extinguishing work, which refilled water in vehicles hundreds of times to extinguish the fire," he added.Another major fire erupted in Shivpuri, where a photo frame shop was gutted. Officials received a call around 2.45am, and 10 tenders were rushed to the spot."The fire spread due to chemicals kept for pasting photo frames. Firefighters and more than 10 fire tenders were pushed into action to douse the fire. We were able to contain the fire after nearly two hours of work by our team," a fire officer stated. The situation is currently under control. Fire officials said that the department received 29 calls on Diwali night, including fires in Nathupur slums, in Vatika of Sector 32, in a footwear warehouse in Sector 28, in a house in Sector 47, and vehicles catching fire in two other areas.
