Sanghavi vows strict action against drug peddlers, love jihad | Surat News - The Times of India

Surat: In his first public address after taking charge as deputy chief minister, Harsh Sanghavi on Monday vowed stringent action against drug peddlers and reiterated the state's zero-tolerance stance on 'love jihad'.Speaking at a Diwali get-together and felicitation ceremony at the SGCCI Convention Centre, Sanghavi said, "Those who misuse technology or employ deceitful means to ruin the lives of innocent daughters of our state will not be spared."Lauding the police for their decisive action against history-sheeters, Sanghavi urged officers to intensify their crackdown on criminals and drug networks that, he said, were corrupting the youth.Expressing gratitude for the dedication and service of the state police, Sanghavi described their work as an inspiration for all of Gujarat. "Our police tirelessly work for the safety of every Gujarati. If any mistake happens, I am ready to take responsibility," he said.He also praised the police's community outreach efforts during Diwali, noting their visits to old-age homes to comfort senior citizens. Over 118 women received timely assistance through the 112 emergency helpline last week, he added.Referring to the nationwide Tera Tujhko Arpan initiative, Sanghavi commended the Gujarat Police for returning lost valuables to citizens, calling it a "national model of integrity."
