Lucknow: The holy city of Ayodhya turned into a sea of shimmering light on Sunday evening as 33,000 dedicated volunteers came together to light 26.17 lakh earthen lamps on the ghats of the Saryu, setting a new Guinness World Record during the ninth edition of Deepotsav. The volunteers, students from various schools, colleges, and Ram Manohar Lohia Awadh University, worked tirelessly to ensure that every diya burned brightly at the same time. From early morning preparations to the breathtaking moment of illumination, their coordinated effort transformed Ayodhya into a radiant symbol of devotion and unity. For many, this was not just an event but an unforgettable spiritual experience. "Lighting thousands of diyas together felt like spreading the light of faith and positivity across the world," said Abhinav Kumar, a student of Saket Degree College. His classmate, Roli Verma, added, "It was magical. We practiced for days to make sure each diya was perfectly placed. When they all lit up, it felt like the gods themselves were smiling upon Ayodhya." This year's Deepotsav also witnessed the return of Sambar, who has been part of the event multiple times before. "Each year, the energy grows. But this time, it was beyond imagination as the glow stretched endlessly like a golden river," he shared. As chants of "Jai Shri Ram" echoed across the ghats and the night sky sparkled with fireworks, the volunteers stood proudly, their faces lit not just by diyas, but by the joy of having created history together.
