The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) has decided to expand its jurisdiction to 30 districts by October 30 and received approval in principle of Chief Minister Maryan Nawaz to recruit 130 enforcement officers. Giving a briefing on tax targets and potential new sectors in a meeting chaired by the chief minister, PRA Director General Moazzam Ali Sipra said the Punjab government was taking effective measures to increase revenue by establishing a special unit. He said the unit would include tax consultants, legal experts and data analysts. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directed the authorities concerned to assign additional responsibilities related to revenue to the additional deputy commissioners (general) in the districts. She reviewed the inclusion of 19 new sectors to increase revenue in Punjab. She was informed that the PRA had introduced an app for the convenience of potential taxpayers. Meanwhile, congratulated Pakistani scientists and technical team over Pakistan entering a new era of space technology as its first hyperspectral satellite HS-1 reached the space with China's cooperation. She stated that the satellite would help conduct detailed analysis of land, greenery and water in urban areas. It is capable of obtaining accurate images in hundreds of light bands, and is expected to revolutionise agricultural planning and environmental monitoring. She added that accurate monitoring of crops, soil and water quality will be possible with the help of the hyperspectral satellite as it will help in monitoring deforestation.
