Hyderabad: In a major anti-encroachment operation, the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) cleared 1.30 acres of prime govt land in Kulsumpura under the Goshamahal constituency, on Friday, reclaiming property valued at over Rs 110 crore.The land, which is located in survey number 50 of Kulsumpura village in the Asifnagar mandal, had been illegally occupied by a resident named Ashok Singh. He had allegedly built sheds on the land and rented them out to idol makers. Following multiple complaints, HYDRAA officials conducted a field inspection with revenue officers and confirmed that the land belonged to the government.Following directions from HYDRAA commissioner AV Ranganath and the Hyderabad collector, officials moved in to remove the illegal structures. The city civil court had previously ruled in favour of the govt after Singh's claim to ownership was dismissed. Despite previous eviction efforts, Singh reportedly continued to occupy the land and collect rent from tenants.Officials said that Singh, who has over eight criminal cases registered against him in Langar Houz, Mangalhat and Shahinayatgunj police stations, had also attacked personnel attempting to clear the area.According to officials, the reclaimed land will now be used for public purposes. The govt is considering building two-bedroom houses for low-income families in Kulsumpura, where open land is scarce. Similar housing projects have already been developed in adjoining areas, highlighting the administration's commitment to utilising recovered land for the benefit of the community.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday said the Karnataka government and the Centre should resolve the issue in connection with the release of financial assistance from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF) to the state for drought management.
