Vijayapura: The Vijayapura district administration has banned the entry of Sri Adrushya Kadasiddeshwar Swami of Kaneri Mutt in Kolhapur in Maharashtra for two months. Vijayapura DC K Anand issued an order, under BNSS Section 163, prohibiting the seer's entry into the district from Thursday to Dec 14.The move comes in the wake of a police report on the statements made by the seer at a public rally in Bilur in Maharashtra. The seer allegedly used abusive language against Lingayat seers who had taken part in the Basava Yatre. Kaneri Mutt seer's utterances had sparked protests by several Lingayat and other organisations. The two-month ban is to prevent possible law and order problems.The Kaneri Mutt seer was scheduled to visit Vijayapura on Thursday and Friday to participate in the death anniversary of Sri Siddarameshwar Swami in Basavana Bagewadi.The Kaneri Mutt seer made several statements that are aimed at creating enmity between communities, stated a report submitted by the DSP of Basavana Bagewadi.Based on this, SP Laxman Nimbaragi recommended to the DC to prohibit the entry of the seer.Leaders of various Lingayat organisations had demanded action against the Kaneri Mutt seer.
