Boys innocent: Parents of Ghatkopar jewellery robbery attempt case accused | Mumbai News - The Times of India

Mumbai: The parents of two college students arrested for an alleged attempted robbery at a Ghatkopar jewellery shop said they were stunned to learn about their sons' involvement, insisting the boys were innocent and might have been misled."My son is innocent. I don't believe he could ever go this far. We thought he was going to college every day; I don't know how he fell into this trap," said the father of one of the accused. Another parent, visibly upset, declined to speak to the media.Ghatkopar police on Wednesday evening arrested Tanish Bhaisade (20) and Suraj Yadav (20), both college students, in connection with the attempted robbery at Darshan Jewellers in Amrut Nagar, Ghatkopar West, earlier in the day. The third accused, Chandrakiran Yadav, is on the run. Both arrested accused were produced before the Vikhroli court on Thursday and remanded to police custody till Oct 19. The jeweller, Darshan Metkari, who is admitted in a private hospital said he does not know how he mustered the courage to confront the accused. A senior officer said preliminary investigation suggests the arrested students may have been influenced or coerced by the third accused, Chandrakiran Yadav.
