Berhampur: Ganjam police seized firecrackers worth over Rs 65.43 lakh stocked illegally at different places in the last one month. Fifty cases have been registered under the drive that started on Sept 15.While two persons have been arrested for illegally stocking the firecrackers, 50 others have been served notices, police sources said. The crackdown would continue till Oct 20, said SP (Ganjam) Subhendu Patra.During the month-long drive, Aska police seized the highest quantity of firecrackers worth Rs 9 lakh and registered six cases. They were followed by Bhanjanagar police who registered 4 cases and seized crackers worth over Rs 7.06 lakh. Belaguntha police seized crackers worth Rs 2.9 lakh and registered three cases. Around 480 people have sought permission from the district administration to sell firecrackers for Diwali.
Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): The police have identified one of the suspects involved in the ₹5 lakh robbery from PHE contractor Vinay Anand in Gwalior. The suspect, Manish Yadav, a resident of Katihar, Bihar, was captured in CCTV footage and traced to Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Singrauli, July 5: More than 1.27 crore women beneficiaries of Madhya Pradesh government's flagship Ladli Behna Yojana will get a monthly aid of Rs 1,500 after Diwali, up from the current Rs 1,250, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said.
