New Delhi: The Rohtak police in Haryana have registered an FIR against the wife of the late Haryana IPS officer Y. Puran Kumar, her brother, Punjab legislator Amit Rattan, and two others on charges of abetment of suicide and criminal conspiracy in connection with the death of Assistant Sub‑Inspector (ASI) Sandeep Lathar. SI Sandeep Lathar was found dead with a gunshot wound at his village home on Tuesday evening. A note discovered at the scene purportedly leveled corruption allegations against the late IPS officer, Y. Puran Kumar -- who, in turn, had died by suicide in his residence in Chandigarh on October 7. A senior police officer (who spoke on condition of anonymity) stated, "An FIR has been registered ... on charges of abetment to suicide and criminal conspiracy under relevant sections of BNS." The officer further identified the accused as senior IAS officer Amneet P. Kumar (wife of the deceased IPS), her brother, legislator Amit Rattan, ex‑emptee ASI Sushil Kumar, and another police official, Sunil.
