Chennai: AIADMK MLAs led by general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami walked out of the assembly on Wednesday after the debate over Karur stampede veered towards Tuticorin police firing. When EPS alleged that state govt's lapses were responsible for Karur stampede, state transport minister S S Sivasankar intervened asking whether, by the same logic, EPS should be held responsible for the Thoothukudi police firing, since he was the CM at that time. EPS and AIADMK MLAs raised slogans and staged a sit-in protest in the well of the House before walking out. The AIADMK MLAs, including K A Sengottaiyan, had come wearing a black band on their arms, as a sign of protest against the stampede. BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran and his party legislators also staged a walkout during the stampede debate.
