Shillong: Justice Soumen Sen on Wednesday took charge as the chief justice of Meghalaya high court, after being administered the oath of office at the Raj Bhavan by governor Chandrashekhar H Vijayashankar.Earlier, President Droupadi Murmu had appointed Justice Sen as the chief justice of Meghalaya HC on Sept 26, following recommendation from the Supreme Court collegium on Sept 11.With Indra Prasanna Mukerji retiring on Sept 5, Justice Hamarsan Singh Thangkhiew had been officiating as the chief justice, before handing over the reins to Justice Sen on Wednesday.CM Conrad K Sangma, deputy CM Prestone Tynsong, cabinet ministers, leader of opposition Mukul Sangma, chief secretary Dr Shakil P Ahammed and other senior officers dignitaries were present during the swearing-in ceremony.
