Panaji: Goa has rolled out a clean energy roadmap 2050 towards building a clean, green, and sustainable Goa. Chief minister Pramod Sawant inaugurated the workshop for the implementation of the roadmap on Wednesday, highlighting key launches such as the Goa Renewable Energy Capacity Planning, the Net Positive Panchayat (NPP) Initiative, India's first programme aimed at making every panchayat energy self-sufficient, and an MoU with the SELCO Foundation to solarise healthcare facilities across the state."The roadmap represents a major step towards building a clean, green, and sustainable Goa. Through initiatives such as green cooking, solar rooftops, and bioenergy, we are steadily progressing towards self-reliant and sustainable villages," Sawant said. "I urge industries and partners to join us in transforming Goa into a model clean energy state, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of a greener, resilient India," he added.State govt is focusing on accelerating the adoption of clean energy alternatives and decarbonising the energy sector, which includes both grid-based clean electricity consumption and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. Govt also aims to encourage greater private sector investment in green energy. Efforts are being made to harness the state's clean energy potential and optimise available resources by facilitating the development of green energy projects. The initiatives are designed to attract investment in the sector, create jobs, boost the state economy, and provide access to reliable and sustainable solar energy in Goa. Govt is also committed to creating a conducive environment for private sector investment in solar energy generation and storage, encouraging participation, and offering opportunities for deploying solar energy solutions across the state.
