Cuttack: The internet service in Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) is likely to be suspended by another 24 hours as the district administration has sent a proposal to the state government in this regard, informed Additional District Magistrate (ADM) Dibyalochan Mahanta. It is to be noted here that the district administration had suspended the internet service in Cuttack City from 7 PM yesterday to 7 PM today in the wake of the violence and arson in the city. Besides, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and other social media services were also banned in the areas that come under the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) and Cuttack Development Authority (CDA) in Cuttack city. However, the district administration has sent a proposal to the state government to extend suspension of internet in Cuttack City by another 24 hours, informed the Additional District Magistrate. But a final decision in this regard is yet to be taken. The ban on internet services and use of social media platforms were taken to desist from spreading false and provocative posts related to the violence on social media in other parts of the state. The state government also has ordered a 36-hour curfew and appealed the pubic to maintain peace and harmony in the area.
