New Delhi: Some parts of the national capital and adjoining cities received light rainfall on Tuesday morning, bringing much needed respite from the hot and sultry weather conditions. The IMD has forecast light rainfall in the region during the day. As per IMD, the minimum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 28.7 degrees Celsius, which is 5.4 notches above normal. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature is likely to settle around 35 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. The rainfall was accompanied by thunderstorm. Delhi NCR weather: IMD forecast As per the IMD, light rainfall will lash many parts of Delhi NCR. The forecast read that rain is "very likely" in Delhi and adjoining areas - Sonipat, Mattanhail, Kharkhoda, Jhajjar, Charkhi Dadri, Farukhnagar, Sohana, Rewari, Kosali, Palwal, Mahendragarh, Bawal, Aurangabad, Hodal, and Nuh in Haryana, as well as Sakoti Tanda and Khatauli in Uttar Pradesh. Delhi NCR was witnessing unusually hot weather in past few days. As per weather experts, the two main reasons behind the hot days in late September were - clear skies during the daytime, and high humidity levels that trap that heat at night. In addition to this, easterly winds are bringing moist air to the region making the nights warmer. Rain may dampen festive fervour The rainfall in the capital comes during the Maha Ashtami celebrations in the city. Devotees are concerned that the showers may dampen the pandals. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also expected to visit the Durga Puja pandal at Kali Mandir in CR Park today. The Delhi Traffic Police also issued a traffic advisory warning of congestion in the region due to the PM's visit. "Due to heavy footfall in Durga Puja Pandals in CR Park traffic will be heavy on Outer Ring Road, from Panchsheel to Greater Kailash, Lal Bahadur Shastri Marg, JB Tito Marg, Inder Mohan Bhardwaj Marg and CR Park Main Road," the advisory stated. Traffic diversions have also been imposed in other parts of the city due to Navratri and Dussehra festivties.

Itanagar, Jun 7 (PTI) The flood situation in Arunachal Pradesh improved on Saturday with water levels of most rivers receding, even as 33,000 people in 24 districts remained affected, officials said.
