Kohima, September 29 (MExN): The Nagaland Pencak Silat Team secured a total of five medals at the 13th Junior National Pencak Silat Championship held from September 26 to 28 at the Koppal District Khelo India Excellence Centre in Karnataka. According to the Nagaland Pencak Silat Association, the medal tally includes three in the Tanding event and two in the Ganda event. In the Tanding event, Reevan Jaishi won a silver medal, while Jerome Yeptho and Nito Tuccu each secured bronze medals. In the Ganda event, Ashish Kumar Ray and Jerome Yeptho claimed bronze medals. The team was led by Coach Deep Kumar. "Their achievement stands as a testament to the growing strength and recognition of Pencak Silat in Nagaland," the Association stated. It extended its congratulations to all the medal winners and participants and acknowledged "the tireless dedication of the athletes and their coach, whose efforts continue to inspire the younger generation and strengthen the foundation of martial art in the state."
