Lucknow: A social worker at the Kasganj district probation office, Hina Naz,has become an example of dedication and perseverance for thousands of women. Polio-affected since childhood, Hina has turned her personal challenges into a drive to support women and children in her district. Under the Mission Shakti campaign of the state govt, Hina travels around 150 kilometers daily, ensuring that eligible women receive benefits from schemes such as the Destitute Women Pension. "To be happy, you don't need support; you just need to trust yourself," she says, reflecting her commitment to self-reliance and empowerment.Senior govt officials highlight Hina's work as a model for effective grassroots implementation of welfare schemes. When she began her work, only 8,000 women were enrolled in the pension scheme. Through her sustained efforts, that number has risen to 26,928 as of September. Beyond this, she helps children access various govt programs, connecting them with education and social services to improve opportunities.They said that Hina's work demonstrates that determination, honesty, and compassion can overcome physical limitations. Linked with the Department of Women and Child Development, she has strengthened women's empowerment not just in Kasganj, but also in surrounding areas. Many women now seek her guidance, making her a role model across the state. "Her journey underscores how personal dedication and support from govt initiatives like Mission Shakti can transform lives, creating lasting impact in local communities," said officials.
