Karnataka: In a shocking incident, police have arrested a woman, a shopkeeper and his assistant after a saree theft led to a public assault in Bengaluru. The incident occurred in Avenue Road. According to police, the woman entered a saree shop on Sunday and stole a bundle of sarees worth nearly Rs. 90,000. The act was caught on the shop's CCTV camera and she managed to escape at first. Later, the woman allegedly returned to the same shop to steal more sarees. This time, the shopkeeper recognized her and caught her red-handed. In a fit of anger, he dragged her out of the shop and began slapping and kicking her on the road in broad daylight. Several shopkeepers and locals standing nearby recorded the assault on their phones. The videos then quickly went viral on social media. As of now, police have registered two separate cases, one against the woman for theft and another against the shopkeeper and his assistant for assault. All three have been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
