IIM Jammu Hosts First-Level Assurance of Learning (AoL) Training with AACSB Expert

Jammu, 26 September 2025: The Indian Institute of Management Jammu, under the leadership of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, hosted a two day intensive workshop on Assurance of Learning AoL. The program was facilitated by Mr. Geoff Perry, Executive Vice President and Chief Officer, Asia Pacific, Americas, and Membership, AACSB. This workshop marks a significant milestone in IIM Jammu's journey toward AACSB accreditation, focusing on building faculty capacity and strengthening academic quality through a customized AoL process. Aligned with Standard 5 of the 2020 AACSB Accreditation Standards, AoL provides a framework to measure and improve teaching and learning outcomes systematically. Mr. Geoff Perry, Executive Vice President and Chief Officer, Asia Pacific, Americas, and Membership, AACSB and Shri Prathap Das, Regional Head, South Asia AACSB were given a tour of the state of the art campus accompanied by Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu and covered state of the art library, Nalanda, Mandapam Auditorium, Smart Classrooms, Vishrantika Faculty Lounge, Vedanta MDP Block. Another highlight was the plantation conducted by Mr. Geoff Perry, Executive Vice President and Chief Officer, Asia Pacific, Americas, and Membership, AACSB. Shri Prathap Das, Regional Head, South Asia, AACSB, was also present. The event took place in the courtyard area in the presence of Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, Indian Institutes of Management Jammu, with geo tagged photos captured on the occasion. Also, present were Dr. Gaana J, Chairperson, Accreditation, IIM Jammu; Dr. V. Raj Kumar, Co Chairperson, Accreditation, IIM Jammu and Cmdr. Kesavan Baskkaran, CAO, IIM Jammu. The interactive workshop covers the entire AoL process step by step, including competency goals learning goals, learning objectives, data collection, and rubrics. All the Faculty members are participating in breakout sessions, group discussions, and hands on exercises to develop a working knowledge of AoL implementation tailored to IIM Jammu. The key objectives of the training include building a shared understanding and common vocabulary around AoL practices, enabling collective ownership of the accreditation process, gaining practical insights for curriculum design and continuous improvement, and encouraging collaboration and reflection to enhance student learning outcomes. Mr. Geoff Perry, Executive Vice President and Chief Officer, Asia Pacific, Americas, and Membership, AACSB, highlighted that Assurance of Learning is not merely a compliance requirement but a transformative framework that empowers institutions to systematically measure and enhance student learning outcomes. He emphasized that engaging faculty members directly in the design, assessment, and evaluation processes fosters a culture of continuous improvement and alignment with international accreditation standards. Prof. B.S. Sahay, Director, IIM Jammu, emphasized that the Assurance of Learning workshop is a cornerstone in the Institute's vision of academic excellence and global benchmarking. He noted that by actively engaging faculty in designing, assessing, and refining learning outcomes, IIM Jammu is building a robust culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and accountability. He added that such initiatives strengthen the Institute's academic practices, foster collaboration across disciplines, and equip faculty to deliver world class management education that not only meets accreditation standards but also prepares students to excel in complex, dynamic, and global environments.
