Delhi schools have announced autumn break. Holidays will begin on September 29, and classes will resume on October 3. The Directorate of Education (DoE) earlier this year released the schedule for holidays in government as well as private schools of National Capital. The holiday list is applicable for schools across Delhi for the 2025-26 academic session. As per the same, the schools will observe holiday for the autumn between September 29 and October 1. Since October 2 is a national holiday for Gandhi Jayanti, the schools will reopen on October 3. The directive reminds schools of Section 19 of the RTE Act, 2009. It says schools must have at least 220 working days for upper primary classes and 200 for primary classes each year. School heads must ensure holidays do not reduce these required days. The holiday calendar is released in the first quarter of every year to help schools balance festive breaks and academic delivery as well as compliance with the RTE Act.
