CSIR's contributions hailed on 84th foundation day | Lucknow News - The Times of India

Lucknow: The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research has been knowledge backbone and torchbearer of innovation in the country, as, from indelible ink used in every election to Sonalika tractor and NAL Saras multipurpose civilian aircraft, the list of its contributions is extensive. This successful scientific journey was shared by scientists during CSIR Foundation Day celebration held at IITR on Thursday."Founded on Sept 26, 1942, the glorious organisation is celebrating its 84th Foundation Day. In this journey, every CSIR lab has played a crucial role in fulfilling national aspirations," said director Virendra M Tiwari of the CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology, who was chief guest on occasion. The chief guest emphasised that philosophy and scientific hypotheses were interlinked and contributing in an interdisciplinary area with far-reaching consequences. He remarked that the zeal, energy and synergy of times bygone seemed lacking now and that the weight of our knowledge should not slow us down. "We should learn from the rhinoceros, one of the heaviest yet also one of the fastest animals," he said, adding that every member of CSIR family had to envision a bigger, better, more productive, and relevant CSIR -- one that had ability and agility to contribute to all scientific domains, ensuring nation's self-reliance and quality life for the citizens. As part of the celebration, the institute also organised an 'Open Day' for public and scholars to interact with the scientific community and get first-hand experience of the cutting-edge research being conducted. An exhibition of various technologies developed and services offered by the CSIR-IITR was also organised.Meanwhile, around 100 students from local schools and colleges visited the institute, which recognised and honoured its employees who superannuated or completed 25 years in the service of the institute during the past year.
