Sambhajinagar, Sept 16 (UNI) Continuous heavy rains over the past four days have severely disrupted life and caused extensive agricultural damage across several districts of the Marathwada region. Farmers have suffered the most, with thousands of hectares of standing crops washed away by flood‑like conditions that have cut off connectivity to numerous villages in Beed, Dharashiv, Latur, Parbhani, Hingoli, and Nanded districts. Official reports confirm heavy rains across 32 revenue mandals in the division, with Beed emerging as the worst‑affected district. The District Collector of Beed has ordered the closure of educational institutions as a precautionary measure. Significant damage has been reported in Nalondi, Niknoor, Yelamb Ghat, Kada, Takal Singh, Daula Wadgaon, Dhanura, Pampla, Dadegaon, Patoda, Lokhandi, Kage, Yusuf, Hol, and Sharur mandals of the district. In Latur district, the worst‑affected areas include Kasakida, Mogha, Tunder, Bimbli, Padoli, Kasi Gaon, Taljapur, Anala, Kalamab, and Atkor mandals. Parbhani district experienced heavy rains particularly in Makhani, Bori, and Dudh villages, while Vokodi and Dongar Kada mandals were badly hit in Hingoli district. Authorities have stated that the situation is being continuously monitored. Sharur mandal recorded 104 mm of rainfall, while continuous overnight rains in Beed district caused the bursting of Kikanwadi percolation lake and Rakshawadi storage lake. A bridge collapse has further disrupted transport between several villages. In Ch. Sambhajinagar's Amthana mandal under Silod taluk, 70 mm of rainfall was recorded, and flooding of Charna River at Deolgaon Bazar forced the evacuation of residents to safer areas. Local MLA Abdul Sattar has instructed the Tahsildar to conduct panchnamas of crop and property losses. Across Marathwada, heavy rains and cloudbursts have caused rivers and canals to overflow, with the Kambli and Kadi rivers flooding several localities and submerging vast areas. In a major rescue operation, 51 people stranded in affected areas were rescued with the help of military helicopters and shifted to safe shelters.
