Chennai, Sep 16 (UNI) Ahead of the key Assembly polls due in 7-8 months time, the high level meeting of the Tamil Nadu Unit of the BJP began at Akkarai on the ECR today, coinciding with the visit of key alliance party leader and AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami to Delhi. . The meeting was chaired by BJP National General Secretary B L Santosh and all top state party leaders, including TB unit Chief Nainar Nagendran, former President K Annamalai, H Raja, Tamilisai Soundararajan, Khushsbu Sundar and others took prt. The key meeting was held in the backdrop of two main partners--ousted AIADMK leaders and former CM O Panneerselvm and AMMK Founder TTV Dhinakaran, who is the nephew of late J Jayalaltihaa's close-aide V K Sasikala--quitting the NDA alleging neglect by the BJP National leadership. Barring the AIADMK, with which the saffron party has revivied its electoral ties five months back, and some fringe parties, there were no major parties in the alliance, despite oft-repeated claims both the BJP and the AIADMK that a formidable front would be formed to oust the ruling DMK from power in 2026. Efforts were being made by the BJP to nollify both Mr OPS and Dhinakaran who have considerable influence in the southern districts.
