Kolkata: The Calcutta HC on Monday quashed the transfer order of an assistant teacher in East Midnapore, saying the District Primary School Council secretary, who issued the order, was not a member and "was devoid of competence to issue the impugned transfer order"."The power... vests exclusively in the District Primary School Council. Neither its chairman nor its secretary, in his/her personal capacity, is conferred such power," said Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj, directing the authorities to let the assistant teacher continue working at her current school.Nilanjana Maity, assistant teacher at Kasba Sitala Primary School, was transferred to Argora Primary School (Patashpur North Circle) on the grounds of "surplus teacher" adjustment. -- Srishti Lakhotia
