Mumbai: Amid heavy rainfall in Mumbai, a monorail suddenly stopped in Wadala area early on Monday morning. Several passengers were stuck in the monorail that stopped due to a technical fault. The fire brigade team reached the spot to evacuate the passengers. The Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Limited (MMMOCL) said that the problem was caused due to a fault in power supply, which is being investigated. All passengers stuck in the monorail have been successfully evacuated. This is second such incident this monsoon. A monorail train was stuck between Chembur and Bhakti Park stations on August 19, leaving around 500 passengers stranded. They were safely rescued later. Probe underway The passengers who were stuck in the monorail on Monday morning were taken out and put in another monorail coming from Chembur. The MMMOCL said that the team is investigating the issue that led to the this problem. The public relations officer of MMRDA said that the passengers were evacuated safely at 7:45 am. Reacting to the incident, Rajesh Anand Bhojane, councillor of ward 175 of Republican Party of India (Athavale), said that the train going to Wadala stopped. After this, the passengers were transferred to the train coming from Chembur. Trouble for passengers Bhojane added, "Monorail officials are saying that it was a supply problem. The problem has been resolved. I urge the government to solve this recurring problem because people always travel by monorail. If the train stops working, people have to face problems." Due to the monorail getting stuck on route, other monorail services were also partially affected today. The MMMOCL officials have said that the services will be normalized soon.

Mumbai, Aug 19 (PTI) More than 500 passengers were rescued on Tuesday evening after two overcrowded Monorail trains on elevated tracks got stuck between stations in Mumbai on a day of torrential rains, with over a dozen passengers complaining of suffocation, officials said.
