Delhi Riots Case: Court has granted Umar Khalid seven-day bail. The interim bail has been granted to Khalid in order for him to attend a wedding in the family. Previously, Khalid face tough time as he tried for bail. In October 2022, he was denied bail by Delhi High Court. Khalid faces charges under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) in connection with 2020 North-East Delhi riots. Earlier this year, a trial court rejected his bail plea. The current interim-bail has been granted by Karkardooma court in Delhi. However, the court has imposed several conditions on Khalid while granting bail. During his bail period, Khalid is forbidden from witnesses or any person connected with the case. He has also been barred from using social media. Khalid is only allowed to meet his familiy, relatives and friends during the period of interim bail. Umar Khalid will have to surrender before the concerned jail authorities at the end of bail period. FIR 59 of 2020 was registered by Delhi Police's Special Cell under various offences under the Indian Penal Code, 1860 and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
