Pilibhit (UP), Sep 14 (UNI) In the wake of the change of power and incidents of recent violent demonstrations in Nepal, the Pilibhit administration, in collaboration with the police, has increased security on the Indo-Nepal border, senior officials said here today. District Magistrate Gyanendra Singh and SSP Abhishek Yadav said that the police and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) teams are continuously patrolling the border areas bordering Pilibhit district. The DM and SSP said that Pilibhit's 54 km-long international border is connected to Nepal. Violent incidents started after the ban on social media platforms in Nepal. Due to these incidents, there was also a change of power there. The effect of this instability in Nepal is being seen on the Indo-Nepal border. A special surveillance campaign is being conducted in the border areas adjoining Nepal. After the formation of the new government in Nepal, a situation of disturbance persists in many districts between the opposition and supporting parties. The officials said that due to the open border between the two countries, preventing illegal movement and smuggling is the priority of the security agencies, due to which intelligence agencies are also on high alert. SP Yadav said that as soon as information about suspicious activities is received, immediate action will be taken by the police. According to the administration, security agencies fear that anti-social elements may take advantage of the situation and carry out illegal activities across the border. Therefore, the police and SSB are doing joint patrolling. Surveillance has been increased around no-man's land and pillars located on the border. ASP Vikram Dahiya and Circle Officer Puranpur Pratik Dahiya visited the border area with SSB jawans. Joint teams of SSB and police are monitoring the posts and villages located on the border in Puranpur, Madhotanda and Newaria areas. The police have contacted the people of border villages. They have been asked to immediately inform about suspicious activities. The intelligence system is active on the border. The villagers have also been advised to stay away from rumours. According to the police, there does not seem to be any major threat at present. Vigilance is extremely necessary in view of the situation in Nepal. Police officials believe that the promptness of the security agencies has increased the confidence of security among the residents of border areas.
