Lucknow, Sep 14 (UNI) Officer-bearers of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Ghazipur district today met Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath after the death of a disabled party worker, allegedly due to police beating. During the meeting, BJP district president Omprakash Rai, District incharge Dr Rakesh Trivedi and former district president Bhanu Pratap Singh apprised the CM about the whole matter. On this, the CM directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to get the incident probed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). During the 30-minute meeting, Yogi took information about the entire incident. BJP District InchargeRakesh Trivedi said the CM is "very sad and serious" about the incident. He said the government is with the victim's family. They will get justice. The CM called the DGP and ordered the SIT investigation of the incident to be done by an SP-level officer of another district. Trivedi said that the CM has assured that whoever is found guilty in the incident will not be spared. It may be noted that on September 11, disabled BJP worker Siyaram alias Jokhu Upadhyay, who was injured in an alleged brutal police beating during a sit-in protest at Nonhara police station against the installation of electricity poles in Gathiya village, died. It was alleged that he could not be treated properly due to fear of the police. After his death, a crowd of several hundred people did not allow the body to be removed for about 15 hours. It was demanded that the Nonhara police station in-charge and all the policemen of the police station be dismissed and a murder case be registered. The angry crowd raised slogans even when Superintendent of Police Dr Iraj Raja reached the village regarding the incident. The SP suspended six policemen, including the police station in charge. On the initiative of the SP, DM Avinash Kumar has ordered a magisterial inquiry.
