Chennai: PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Saturday recalled the vanniyars who lost their lives in the week-long protest in Sept 1987 demanding reservation in education and employment. In an open letter to cadres, he said, "Social justice cannot be achieved without sacrifice, and the 21 martyrs are the guiding light for our struggle." He claimed DMK's inaction over the past four years had cost the vanniyar community thousands of seats in colleges, and govt jobs.
