Bahraich: Following the death of two kids in recent attacks by wild animals in Bahraich forest division's Kaiserganj range, special teams from Bhopal and West Bengal have been called in with thermal drones to assist in locating and capturing the animal.The attacks occurred on Sept 9 in Paragpurwa village and on Sept 11 in Bhauri, Gajra-Bahorwa village. Divisional forest officer (DFO) Bahraich Ram Singh Yadav said: "Apart from thermal drones, an additional drone camera and multiple camera traps have been installed at sensitive points to trace the movements of the animal. Solar-powered CCTV cameras are also being set up in affected villages to help in identification and safe rescue of the animal. Patrolling teams have also been formed that are conducting day and night surveillance." According to locals, the animal resembles a leopard. Based on these inputs, three cages have been installed in potential locations. "There is suspicion of a violent wild animal near your village. Please remain indoors and keep children under strict watch. Do not allow them outside at night. Ensure sufficient lighting. Always lock your doors before sleeping and avoid sleeping outdoors. If you must step outside, move in groups with sticks for safety. Stay indoors, stay safe," DFO made loudspeaker announcements in the affected villages. Firecrackers are being used to prevent animals from entering villages, he added. Last year as well, 10 children had died and 60 people were injured in similar attacks by wild animals.
