Patna: In a major development, Adani Power Ltd, India's largest private-sector thermal power generator, on Friday received a Letter of Intent from Bihar State Power Generation Company Ltd. The LOI was issued for setting up a 2,400-megawatt plant in Pirpainti. As per reports, the Adani Group company has signed a 25-year power supply agreement with the BSPGCL. Now, Adani Power will generate electricity from the upcoming greenfield ultra supercritical thermal power plant to fulfil the state's energy requirements. The initiative, structured on a build, finance, own, and operate model, will include three units each with a capacity of 800 MW. The competitive bidding process was followed, in which Adani Power offered the lowest supply rate of Rs 6.075 per kilowatt hour. After winning the big, the Gautam Adani-owned company plans to invest approx USD3 billion in the plant and its infrastructure. It is noteworthy that the coal requirement for the plant has been secured through the Government of India's SHAKTI policy. It is expected that the massive project will create between 10,000 to 12,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction period. After becoming operational, the project will create about 3,000 jobs. As per reports, the Adani Group aims for the full commissioning of the plant within 60 months.
