Lucknow: A three-month-old girl was killed in an alleged wolf attack in Bahraich on Friday, reigniting fear in the region that witnessed a spate of such attacks last year.The incident occurred around 3 pm in Bhauri Bahorwa village under Baundi police station. According to the victim's mother, Rani, she was sleeping in the verandah with her daughter Sandhya when a wolf suddenly snatched the baby from her lap and fled. Her husband, Dinesh Tiwari, chased the predator with a stick, but the wolf disappeared into the darkness.Hours later, the child's remains were found in a sugarcane field, 600 metres away from the house. The wolf devoured most of the body, leaving only the skull and a bracelet, which helped the father identify his daughter. This was the second fatal wolf attack in Bahraich within 48 hours. On Sept 10, a seven-year-old girl was dragged from her home and killed in Kaisarganj, about 8 km away.
