Preacher to follow Panthic code; joins Gargaj in Hry | Chandigarh News - The Times of India

Kurukshetra: By apologising before a congregation and pledging to follow the Panthic code, prominent Sikh preacher Bhai Ranjit Singh Dhadrianwala rejoined the Sikh mainstream on Friday, also sharing a stage for the first time with Giani Kuldip Singh Gargaj, the officiating jathedar of the Akal Takht, who urged the community to rise above hypocrisy and stand united. This event that marks a significant step toward reconciliation within the Sikh community took place during a religious congregation that Haryana's Sikh community had organised at Pipli in the Kurukshetra district. Dhadrianwala's participation comes after the Akal Takht, the highest temporal seat of Sikhism, lifted a five-year ban against him in May. The ban, imposed in 2020 due to controversial statements, was lifted after Dhadrianwala apologised formally and agreed to adhere to Sikh principles and code of conduct.Jathedar Gargaj welcomed Dhadrianwala's apology and reconciliation, stating: "Why shall we stop our preachers?" He emphasised the importance of unity in the face of what he described as efforts to "misdirect the community to other paths." He called Harjit Singh Rasulpur a "behrupia" (a man of disguises), for allegedly spreading false propaganda that Sikh flood aid had reached only the wealthy.Ends MSID:: 123855780 413 |
