Dumka Police File FIR Against Eight for Alleged Desecration of Worship Place in Babupur Village | Ranchi News - The Times of India

Dumka: Police have lodged FIR against eight persons in connection to the alleged desecration of a place of worship in Dumka's Babupur village under the Saraiyahat police station area on Friday.Tension prevailed in the area over the incident since morning. When the priest opened the gate of the place of worship, he claimed to have found human excreta. As the news spread, villagers gathered at the site and accused members of another community demanding action against the culprits.Police rushed to the spot with heavy forces to ensure no flare up happen. The priest told police that the entire temple premises was found defecated and urinated. Later, it was cleaned up by the administration. Villagers stated that a group from another community a few days ago threatened that the temple would be demolished if they don't allow the road passing nearby it for funeral procession. "Just a couple of days ago, a group of other community members threatened that if they would not allow the funeral procession to pass through this route, then the temple would not be allowed to exist there," the temple priest said to the police. "Earlier, the other community used to carry the procession via the pond side, but for the past few years, they have started using the temple route, which is opposed by us," added another villager.SDPO Amit Kumar Kachhap said, "An FIR has been registered against eight individuals. The police will take impartial action through proper probe. The situation is normal but that police force is camping in Babupur."
