The New Delhi Range, which covers New Delhi and Southwest Delhi districts, alone accounted for 307 PUCC-related violations with one case of ELV. The Delhi Traffic Police issued 4,474 challans against overage vehicles and those lacking Pollution Under Control Certificates (PUCC) Monday, the first day of implementation of GRAP-IV measures to tackle pollution in the Capital. "The Delhi Traffic Police intensified its enforcement efforts in view of deteriorating pollution conditions with the implementation of GRAP-IV in the NCR," said Additional CP (Traffic HQ) Satyaveer Singh Katara. He added that traffic personnel are effortlessly working on the ground even in such severe AQI levels. "From November 15, when GRAP-III was imposed, 14,068 PUCC challans have been issued and 448 overage or end-of-life (ELV) petrol and diesel vehicles have been impounded," said Ajay Chaudhary, Special CP (Traffic). As many as 4,852 vehicles were issued challans for not having a PUC certificate, while 138 ELVs were impounded on November 15. Advertisement On Monday, challans were imposed across two zones of Delhi. Zone 1 included the Central, Northern, and Eastern Range, and saw 2,228 challans being issued. Zone 2, covering New Delhi, Southern, and Western ranges, recorded 2,246 violations, said Shashank Jaiswal, DCP (Traffic HQ). In Zone 2, 2,246 vehicles were found to be non-compliant with environmental standards and were issued challans for lacking valid PUC certificates. Additionally, 77 overage vehicles were penalised and sent for scrapping. The New Delhi Range, which covers New Delhi and Southwest Delhi districts, alone accounted for 307 PUCC-related violations with one case of ELV. The Southern Range, which includes South and Southeast districts, reported 915 challans for PUCC non-compliance, while 1,024 violations were logged in the Western Range (West, Outer and Dwarka districts). The overage impounded vehicles from the southern and western ranges are 37 and 39, respectively. Similarly, the Central Range (North and Central Delhi) saw 794 challans, with 18 targeting old vehicles. In the Eastern Range (East, Northeast and Shahdara), 780 challans were issued of which 30 were related to overage vehicles.
