HC refuses interim relief to KCR, Harish on Kaleshwaram probe | Hyderabad News - The Times of India

Hyderabad: Telangana high court Monday declined to grant interim relief to former chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and ex-minister T Harish Rao on their interim applications on the Justice PC Ghose Commission report on the Kaleshwaram project. The matter came up hours after chief minister A Revanth Reddy, speaking in the assembly, announced that the investigation into alleged irregularities in Kaleshwaram project would be handed over to the CBI.Counsels representing KCR and Harish Rao mentioned the issue before a bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin, seeking urgent protection against any govt action following the CM's statement. They submitted that the state govt had earlier said no action would be taken until the report was placed before the assembly and discussed. However, immediately after tabling the report, the CM announced the CBI handover, even as the House was adjourned sine die without passing a resolution, the counsels contended."It is no longer an apprehension. The CM has already made an announcement in the House. At this stage, if the govt takes some action or issues orders handing over the case to the CBI, our case becomes meaningless," the counsels argued, referring to the CM's speech.Pressing for an immediate hearing, they told the bench: "We are worried. All I am (we are) seeking is to stay the action till Oct 7. If they intend to take further action, they might issue a notification today (Monday) and inform the court tomorrow (Tuesday)."The bench said the matter would be heard on Tuesday, but asked the state govt's counsel to be ready with instructions. Chief Justice Singh observed: "Tell us (tomorrow) whether you are going to take any action today, tomorrow or if it's in the pipeline. The necessary sense of urgency has to be taken note."Earlier, the high court had declined to pass interim orders on similar petitions filed by KCR and Harish Rao, describing their plea as a 'misplaced apprehension.'
