Hyderabad: The GHMC said it ahd completed arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of Ganesh Nimajjanam. On Monday, Commissioner R.V. Karnan inspected immersion facilities along PVNR Marg, reviewed barricading, lighting, crane setups and control room arrangements. Immersion points have been prepared at 20 major lakes and 72 artificial ponds. Across all locations, 134 static cranes and 259 mobile cranes have been installed. At Hussainsagar, in coordination with the tourism department, nine boats, Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams and 200 trained swimmers have been placed on standby. Thirteen control rooms have been set up in coordination with the police. For the 303.3 km-long procession route, 160 Ganesh Action Teams have been deployed. To maintain cleanliness, 14,486 sanitation workers are working in three shifts. Since the start of the festival, GHMC has transported nearly 3,000 metric tonnes of waste to dumping yards using 125 JCBs and 102 mini-tippers. At immersion sites, 39 mobile toilets have been provided, while 56,187 temporary lights have been arranged along procession routes and immersion points. Seven medical camps with ambulances will function in three shifts. Under a special road safety drive, more than 90 per cent of potholes across Greater Hyderabad have been repaired, with engineering teams attending to rain-damaged stretches. The commissioner appealed to organisers to transport idols to immersion sites on time to enable an orderly process, and urged devotees to use designated garbage points along procession routes.
