Mumbai, Aug 22 (UNI) The International Cricket Council (ICC) today confirmed a revised schedule for the upcoming ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, with Navi Mumbai replacing Bengaluru as one of the five venues due to the unavailability of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. The 13th edition of the Women's 50-over World Cup will be played from September 30 to November 2 across India and Sri Lanka. The DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai will host up to five fixtures, including three league matches, one semifinal and potentially the final on November 2. The other venues remain unchanged -- ACA Stadium (Guwahati), Holkar Stadium (Indore), ACA-VDCA Stadium (Visakhapatnam) and R Premadasa Stadium (Colombo). The first semifinal is scheduled in Guwahati or Colombo on October 29, while the second semifinal will be staged in Navi Mumbai on October 30. The exclusion of Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium comes in the backdrop of crowd management concerns. Earlier this year, 11 people lost their lives in a stampede when thousands of fans thronged for ticket sales ahead of RCB victory celebrations. ICC Chairman Jay Shah expressed confidence in Navi Mumbai's ability to deliver a vibrant atmosphere for women's cricket. "Navi Mumbai has emerged as a genuine home for women's cricket in recent years. The support it has received during international fixtures and the Women's Premier League has been remarkable. I am certain that the same energy will define the big matches of the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup as it returns to India after 12 years," Shah said. He added that the tournament could prove to be a defining milestone for the women's game globally. "While unforeseen circumstances required us to adjust the schedule and replace a venue, we are pleased to now have a lineup of five world-class venues that will showcase the very best of the women's game.
