Imphal, Aug 21 (UNI) Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla today highlighted issues related to healthcare and the concerns of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the state. In the first meeting, Dileep Mangsuli, Chairman of the American Oncology Institute (AOI), along with three officials of the Institute, called on the Governor. Mangsuli briefed the Governor on the journey of AOI as a premier cancer specialty institution in the country. He informed that 90 cancer treatment units have been made operational across India, including one in Imphal -- the only such unit in the entire North East region. The Imphal unit is equipped with state-of-the-art surgical oncology operation theatres. He further highlighted that nearly 60 percent of cancer patients have been treated under Ayushman Bharat-PMJAY and CMHT cards, ensuring access to affordable healthcare. Later in the day, representatives of various Civil Society Organisations of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) also met the Governor to apprise him of the pressing challenges and grievances faced by the displaced communities. The delegation underscored concerns related to road accessibility, resettlement in their original homes, education, healthcare, and the urgent need for adequate housing. Governor Bhalla assured the delegation that these issues have already been taken up with the concerned authorities and emphasized that sustained efforts are being made to address them at the earliest. The meeting was attended by the Commissioner (Home) and the Secretary to the Governor.
