Mumbai: An Air India pilot has received accolades for safely landing an aircraft at Mumbai Airport on Tuesday, amid heavy rain and strong winds. A passenger shared the video on X and wrote: "Mumbai airport landing in the midst of heavy rains. Hats off to Captain Neeraj Sethi for landing safely with less visibility." According to a report published by NDTV, The post drew wide appreciation for Captain Sethi's professionalism, with users calling him a "true hero of Indian skies." Some users noted that landings are often conducted on auto-pilot in such conditions. Mumbai was under a red alert from the IMD due to incessant rainfall and more than 250 flights were affected. Local train services were hit on the Central Railway's main and harbour lines. Schools, colleges and government offices remained closed, while the Bombay High Court functioned only till 12.30 p.m. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Wednesday, saying rainfall intensity is likely to reduce from Thursday.
