GCET Jammu observes Anti-Ragging Week

Jammu, Aug 13: The Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu is observing Anti-Ragging Week from August 11 to 15 with a focus on sensitizing senior students to the harmful impacts of ragging and fostering a safe, inclusive campus environment.The week began with an inaugural address by the Principal Prof. (Dr.) Sameru Sharma, reaffirming the campaign's objectives. Prof. (Dr.) Anita Brar, Convener of the Anti-Ragging Committee delivered the opening remarks, urging the students to help maintain a congenial and ragging free environment in the college.An Expert Talk titled "Say No to Ragging" was delivered by Prof. Savita Nayyar from the Department of Law, University of Jammu, offering valuable insights into the legal aspects and students' responsibilities in curbing ragging.The week's programme includes poster-making, slogan-writing, and speech competitions, giving students a platform to creatively express the negative consequences of ragging. A special screening of a documentary on the legal and psychological effects of ragging is also being held to enhance awareness and camaraderie among students. The winners will be felicitated at the conclusion of the event.
