3 men held with banned Chinese manjha rolls | Delhi News - Times of India

New Delhi: Ahead of Independence Day, three men were arrested for allegedly selling banned Chinese manjha in different parts of the city. A total of 112 rolls of the banned manjha were seized. Acting on a tip-off, Delhi Police's crime branch conducted a raid at a stationery shop in west Delhi's Uttam Nagar on Tuesday and seized 27 rolls of Chinese manjha. The accused, shop owner Yogesh, is a resident of Rohtak in Haryana.On the same day, another raid was conducted in east Delhi's Trilokpuri. Harsh (23) was arrested for storing and selling the banned manjha from his house, police said. Additional commissioner of police (crime) Mangesh Kashyap said, "Harsh was caught holding a bag containing 25 rolls of the manjha and apprehended. He disclosed that he procured it from another local resident."Another accused, Rajiv (39), was also arrested from Uttam Nagar with 60 rolls of Chinese manjha.Chinese manjha, a synthetic kite string that is coated with glass, metal and other abrasive materials, is banned for production, sale and use in the capital. On June 27, 22-year-old Yash Goswami died after his throat was slit by Chinese manjha while riding his scooter on Rani Jhansi Road.
