Srinagar, Aug 13: The 79 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) today organised a Tiranga Rally in Srinagar as part of the run-up to Independence Day celebrations.A statement issued here said that the rally commenced at 7:30 am from Amar Singh Club, Sonwar, and passed through RK Crossing, Aziz Bridge, Diamond Crossing, and Gupkar Road. A total of 75 officers and personnel of the unit, under the command of Sanjay Kumar, Commandant, 79 Bn, took part. They were joined by personnel from the Jammu and Kashmir Police (PS RM Bagh), the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), and local residents from Sonwar. The aim of the Tiranga Yatra was to foster a sense of patriotism, unity, and respect for the national flag among citizens -- particularly in the lead-up to Independence Day -- and to honour the sacrifices of security personnel while promoting national integration in the region.
