Nagpur: In a heart-warming initiative, 800 brothers are set to adorn their wrists with rakhis prepared by Nagpur central jail's women inmates. The inmates will also tie rakhis on the wrists of prison personnel, fostering a symbolic bond of brotherhood in a unique celebration of rakshabandhan, informed DySP (prisons) Deepa Aagey. "Sweets and other eatables from the prison canteen would be made available on the day of rakshabandhan," she said.The Maharashtra prison dept has set up a dedicated stall on the Nagpur Central Jail premises to showcase and sell rakhis and other handcrafted items created by the inmates. The dept has also started receiving rakhis from sisters for their incarcerated brothers, ensuring that the festival's spirit is shared by those behind bars and their families.
