KARIMNAGAR: The police arrested a 24-year-old youth for illegally cultivating marijuana (ganja) plants in the backyard of his house in Narsingapur village of Jagtial district on Sunday. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a special search operation and found four ganja plants being illegally grown by the accused, identified as Motuku Raju. The plants, weighing approximately 241 grams, were seized. Raju was taken into custody and shifted to the Rural Police Station. A case has been registered against him under the relevant sections of law. Police officials stated that, under the direction of superintendent of police Ashok Kumar, a strict crackdown on illegal activities is underway across the district. They added that surveillance and raids will continue to curb drug addiction, and stern action will be taken against individuals involved in the cultivation, transportation, or use of ganja.
