Jammu, Aug 1: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has stated that "No Objection Certificate" has not been issued to its soldier Munir Ahmed for marrying a Pakistan national. The Force has also described the dismissal order of Munir Ahmed as "correct as per rules and in order" and has sought rejection of the writ petition filed by him (Munir). In its objections filed in the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh at Jammu on July 29, 2025, in the matter of Munir Ahmed versus Union of India and Others, CRPF pointed out that the petitioner (Munir Ahmed) "applied for the NoC to the department for marrying a Pakistan national Menal Khan, which is not given to him due to national security issue and policy matter and is still pending." The Force also accused him of "serious misconduct" by secretly marrying Menal Khan, a Pakistan national, concealing facts and forging her signature on "Nikahnama" besides hiding her expired visa status. Denying the contentions of Munir's writ petition, CRPF maintained that no fundamental or statutory right of the petitioner had been violated. "Therefore, the petitioner cannot invoke the extraordinary jurisdiction of this court...Further no part of the cause of action has arisen within the jurisdiction of this court as such this Court lacks the territorial jurisdiction to entertain the writ petition," CRPF submitted in its objections, seeking dismissal of the writ petition of Munir, challenging his dismissal from the service. Menal, who is stated to have married to CRPF soldier Munir in May last year online, came to Jammu in February year, after a long wait of nine years on a short-term visa. According to Munir, the application for extension of her visa, made prior to the Pahalgam attack, was pending with the Ministry of Home Affairs. But after the Pahalgam terror attack, she too was served notice to leave India and she was taken to Attari for deportation. The move, as per officials, was in alignment with the decision of the central government vis-à-vis suspension of visas of all Pakistan nationals following the Pahalgam terror attack and their deportation to their native country by the fixed deadline. Though following the court's intervention she was brought back before she could be deported yet as the matter escalated, CRPF dismissed Munir from the service. Munir challenged his dismissal in the court of law.
