Lucknow: The chief electoral officer (CEO) of UP has officially removed cricketer Rinku Singh from his role as the state icon of the Systematic Voters' Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme. The decision, approved by the Election Commission of India (ECI), was communicated to the Aligarh district election officer (DEO), citing concerns over political neutrality.The CEO UP office wrote to the Aligarh DEO that all the promotional content such as posters, videos and other media featuring Singh should be removed with immediate effect.Official sources said, "Rinku Singh, who was previously featured in various voter awareness campaigns, has been dropped following his engagement to Samajwadi Party member of Parliament Priya Saroj.
