12 injured as passenger bus overturns at Jhajjar Kotli

JAMMU, July 19: At least 12 persons were injured after a bus they were travelling in overturned at Jhajjar Kotli area here today. Driver of a passenger bus (JK02AT-2279), on way to Jammu from Udhampur, lost control over the vehicle after its break failed near Panjal Village on the National Highway in Jhajjar Kotli area, a police official said. Click here to watch video To ensure the safety of almost 30 people travelling in the vehicle, he said, the driver hit the uncontrolled bus against an electric pole, resulting in injuries to 12 persons. They were immediately shifted to the Government Medical College Jammu with the help of locals for treatment, where the condition of some of the injured is stated to be critical. The injured have been identified as Vishali (22) daughter of Kuldeep Kumar of Tikri, Udhampur, Glory (24) daughter of Ram Pal Sharma of Udhampur, Davinder Kumar (59) son of Omkar Chand of Billawar, Pardesh Kumar (28) son of Ramesh Chander of Panjal, Jhajjar Kotli, Ravi Kumar (43) son of Chuni Lal of Chenani, Udhampur, Tariq Ahmed Wani (33) son of Gulam Mohammad Wani of Anantnag, Ritu (30) wife of late Jasbir Singh of Udhampur, Karishani (55) son of Sakicharan Sahan of Bihar, Mohinder (28) of M P, Himanshu (29) son of Hari Singh of Uttarakhand, Amit (21) son of Ramesh of Rajasthan, and Gyan Singh of Udhampur, whose age and parentage was not known immediately. Meanwhile, police have registered a case under the relevant sections of the law at Jhajjar Kotli Police Station and started further investigation into the matter.
