Lucknow: A four-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a van driver employed by a prestigious school in Indiranagar. The accused, identified as Mohammad Arif (25), was arrested on Saturday and booked under the charges of rape, SC/ST Act and Pocso Act.The police investigation revealed that the survivor's mother had approached the school manager on July 17 with her complaint, but no action was taken. An FIR was lodged at Indiranagar police station the same evening. The survivor's mother alleged that the school manager had arranged for the van, which was used to transport her child to and from the school. DCP (east zone) Shashank Singh said the school manager's role is currently under investigation.ACP Indiranagar, Anindya Vikram Singh, said the medical examination of the girl has been completed. "We have also got her statement recorded by a magistrate," said the ACP. The child had returned home distressed on July 14, complaining of pain in her private parts. A doctor's visit revealed injuries, prompting the child to tearfully disclose the inappropriate actions of the "driver uncle" during the morning commute to the school. The woman was horrified to discover her daughter was alone in the van with the driver and immediately went to the school authorities to register a complaint. Unfortunately, the school took no action. When the woman confronted Arif, he threatened to harm the child if the family pursued the matter. Police suspect that the accused might have targeted other young girls too in the past. "Investigations are ongoing, with a team gathering information from other students who availed the van service," said an officer privy to the probe.
