Minority Affairs secretary reviews implementation of PM schemes, Waqf development in Kerala

New Delhi, Jul 19: Secretary of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar, chaired a comprehensive review meeting with senior officials of the Kerala government during his visit to Kottayam. The meeting focused on assessing the progress and implementation of key centrally sponsored schemes, including the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK) and Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS), which aim to enhance infrastructure and promote livelihood opportunities in minority-concentrated areas. Deliberations also covered the status of Waqf property development initiatives in the state, as well as the progress of data entry and updates on the UMEED Portal. The portal, developed under the Unified Waqf Management Efficiency, Empowerment and Development (UMEED) Act, 1995, is designed to ensure greater transparency and digital oversight of Waqf properties across the country.
