Srinagar, July 19: In a heartwarming celebration of youth development and water safety, over 36 youngsters were awarded certificates and mementoes Saturday after successfully completing a basic swimming course at the scenic Water Sports Centre, Nigeen. The felicitation ceremony was led by Deputy Labour Commissioner (Central), Masrat Hashim.According to a statement issued here, the event formed part of a 100-day swimming initiative, spearheaded by the Swim N Survival Society-K in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, Kashmir. Running from May to September, the programme aims to introduce non-swimmers -- especially children -- to fundamental swimming skills, instilling in them a crucial life-saving ability and boosting their confidence. Each morning, children from across the region, often accompanied by their parents, gather at the centre. Their enthusiasm has transformed the calm waters of Nigeen Lake into a vibrant hub of learning and personal growth.
